Best Hotel Pool for kids in San Diego

Starting to plan a trip to San Diego for spring of next year. I really want to show my kids the Zoo and all the places I used to go as a kid. Growing up in Coronado, I know that the beach will not be a true option at that time. My kids (preschoolers) are more into pools anyway. What hotel has the best pool for kids? I heard that the Four Seasons has a waterpad or something similar but have not been able to find pics on its site. Any other thoughts? I would really love to rent a house but hard to find with a pool and the safety issues of my kids and a pool have me too worried anyway. I think it would be best to stay in a hotel where the pool is far away and can't be accessed accidentally by my guys.

Thanks to all for any advice.

Four Seasons Aviara has a wonderful pool for the kids..
Just stayed at La Costa Resort for a week after being a fire evacuee and I gotta tell you they did a great job on the renovations and they have several huge pools along with a kids center and aquarium..
Adults get the Deepak Chopra center as well as the killer spa they have.
Local girl from Coronado..yeah!

Thank you so much for the info. I had been following all the fire threads and never saw you post an update and was quite worried as I follow the SD threads and know you are from the area. Glad to hear you are well. I suppose if you had to be evacuated, La Costa is the way to go.

Growing up in Coronado, we never had to really deal with the fire issues.

I will look into the Four Seasons.

We stayed at the Loews Coronado a couple of years ago with our then 3 and 5 year old kids - they had a ball swimming in the pools (there are a few). We also loved watching the boats on the marina next door. Oh, and good / easy food served pool side was really a treat.

Have a great trip!

The Hotel Del Coronado has a wonderful pool area, there were many kids enjoying their time there when we stayed at the Del in December for 3 nights. A nice pool house also, where you can purchase pool toys and goodies. Have a fun trip! ***kim***

Taitai- As I also grew up in Coronado, I was going to ask if we knew each other, then saw you have pre-schoolers. Unless you got a really late start on motherhood, I guess we're very far apart in age!

hi lcuy
and taitai

I grew up in Coronado too. And as lcuy mentioned unless you got a late start we are much older (at least I know lcuy is!! LOL)

It would be nice to stay at the Hotel Del and use Coronado as a base for other places to go during the day.

Thanks to all for this. I actually went to the del a lot as a kid and we even had our wedding photos taken there but I fear the rooms are too small. I will check out the Loews as well.

I am not sure if I got a late start on kids or not...basically the same time as all my friends...(mid/late 30s?). However, Coronado is a small place and if you were/are involved at all with the Yacht Club or Golf Course you probably knew or know my parents or grandparents. Such a small world.

I have stayed at the Del quite a bit. The rooms vary a lot. I can think of one room we had that was quite large, and there were 4 of us in there. We have never had a tiny room, but some were on the smaller side.
