I have been researching for over 8 weeks, and have been reading thread after thread of many posters who have the same trouble I am having. Where should we stay? Over the last few weeks, mostly based on reviews from others, I have had 5 different first choices (depending on what I read that day) for Maui: 4 Seasons, Fairmont, Ritz, Hyatt, and Sheraton. We are spending 5 days in early October and this will be the only time we get to Hawaii, so the agony continues. Want romance, fewer kids, and not to feel as though we were robbed when we leave. As for Kauai, my fiance is concerned that Princeville's weather will be a problem and that Poipu is our only option. Hyatt vs. Princeville. I'd LOVE some advice - even if it's just to strike one or two from my list.

Go for Hyatt on both islands. We did that for our honeymoon and I wouldn't have changed a thing. You may even be able to do some kind of package deal with Hyatt. Both are great hotels. The Hyatt on Kauai took my breath away. And the one on Maui is just great, right on Kaanapali Beach, close to everything. Have fun. Don't agonize too much. You can go wrong with any of the hotels you are looking at ... but my vote if for the 2 Hyatts.

Anywhere is Wailea is great for a honeymoon. My choice would be the Four Seasons. I walked by with my child recently and was very jealous at how quiet and romantic the couples had it there.

The Hyatt on Kauai is very pretty. And of course I love Poipu since we used to live there. We would drive up and spend the day at the Princeville hotel.

For my honeymoon this past February, stayed at the 4 Seasons on Maui and The Princeville on Kauai.

I would definitely recommend them for what you are looking for, "romance, fewer kids". And while they are both a little pricey, we never felt like we overspent. The care, service, and amenities these resorts provide makes the money you spend well worth it (all that has one caveat, of course...you have to be able to afford it).

And don't worry about the weather at The Princeville....early October is only on the fringe of the rainy season, and even if you were talking January, I still would stay there. Like I said, was there this past Feb. (height of rainy season) and it didn't rain more than 15-20 minutes any day that we were there.

I recommend the Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui. Beautiful grounds and very elegant. The rooms there are all suites and very nice. The beach is perfect with great views of Lanai and Molokai.

On Kauai I recommend the Radisson. Very nice hotel.

I'm sure you will enjoy wherever you stay on either island.

You're never going to get a straight answer with that question. As you said, you get different reviews each day. You're going to have to go out on a limb and choose yourself.

You can't really go wrong with any of the hotels you listed. All are great. They are constantly listed and talked about on these boards because they are great hotels. But everyone has their own opinion so you are always going to get different answers. No one can tell you where to stay... you have to decide for yourself. Remember... they're just hotels.

so many of us here have agonized over this decision. it's your honeymoon and of course you want it to be perfect. the best advice I can give you is to make a list of priorities..things that are most important to you in a hotel and go from there...

October will be a great time to visit. Fewer kids by far than at other times. Good weather. Others have said it and I will too. Any of the resorts you have selected will be fabulous. The Hyatts on Maui and Kauai are beautiful hotels with beautiful grounds and pools. The rooms are pretty standard in size. On your list for Maui I'd remove the Sheraton and look at just the other 4 you have. On Kauai either choice will be great. Best wishes.

I remember staying at the Hyatt in Poipu and at the Princeville...went to Hyatt first and it is such a great property but when we rounded the bend on the northshore to those gorgeous cliffs, my husband asked why we didn't spend more time here..it is a view that absolutely shouldn't be missed and with 3 days in Kauai maybe this is something to consider. The Four Seasons would be the best place to be pampered...yes, I as well would drop the Sheraton.

Linusw - just another honeymooner with the same problem (wouldn't it be great if all of our "problems" were like this!!), and we finally decided to go with the Hyatt on Kauai. We will be honeymooning there in October as well!! Good luck with the wedding plans and have a GREAT honeymoon!

My vote goes to the 4 Seasons on Maui and the Princeville in Kauai. At the 4 Seasons, go for the least expensive room you can get or the best package. I got a great deal a few years ago that included breakfast (otherwise expensive) and a rental car each day for $275 or so. That way, you get a great hotel, and everything that comes with it, for a relatively reasonable price. The views from the Princeville are some of the best in the world, and the north side of Kauai is far more beautiful/interesting than the south side. The Princeville also is an excellent hotel with great rooms, and good deals are available by joining Starwood preferred (free frequent guest program). You get a 30% or more discount for joining this! Poipu is ok, but nowhere near as special as the north shore.
