We will be arriving in Naples Florida in early May & we would like to take a tour in the Everglades, many years ago we did an airboat tour, but would prefer now to do a tram or ordinary boat tour. Which is the best one to see some of the wild life & birds of the area ?
Would rather less than a day tour, half a day would be preferable or a couple of hours.

Our favorite swamp tour was the one we took on foot at this place: http://www.nps.gov/jela/index.htm
The park has a visitor center in the old quarter: 809 Decatur Street.

Our favorite swamp tour was the one we took on foot at Jean Lafiette Preserve, located about fourteen miles south of New Orleans. The park and preserve has a visitor center at 809 Decatur Street in New Orleans.

Thanks HTTY, but we are in South Florida, Naples!
meant to say, we are active & in our late sixties, so do like a bit of walking.
One of the most fascinating attractions near Napes is Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. A beautiful boardwalk winds through a spectacular swamp--home to 200 species of birds. Docents, if you ask, will help you in locating birds.

Thank you & yes we have been there before & really enjoyed it & by reading up on the WWW have begun to think we will be better going back there !
You also can take a tour with the National Park Service from Everglades City out into the mangrove islands on the coast. Corkscrew is fantastic too!
