Best day to visit NYC

What is the best day of the week to visit the city? We're only going to spend one day there and want to navigate through the smallest crowds possible. Our options are friday, saturday or monday (at the end of June).

Summer is always crowded in NYC, especially summertime. The theatre district is always bustling. Weekends tend to have more people. Mondays may be a little better due to the fact that it begins the work week.

What are you planning to do here. How and when are you arriving and how and when are you leaving?

I would think Monday would be worse - more workers adding to the tourists who are already there. I'd think Sunday would be the "lightest" day.

Agree it matters where you're coming from and how. Monday will be the lightes day for maor sights - but commuting could be worse.

Be careful, because Gay Pride is always the last Sunday in June and it may be hard to get hotel room.

The city is always crowded during Gay Pride Weekend.

Something else to remember about Mondays is that some nyc restaurants are closed that day, so if you come then, take care to check ahead online or by phone to make sure of the hours.

I would avoid Friday which always has the worst traffic. That leaves Mon or Sat.; each have pros and cons.

Actually, now that Thin mentions Gay Pride, if it's the last weekend, Mon. is the best option.
