Best beaches in the Jacksonville, FL area
Hello all,
I will be visiting the Jacksonville area later next month. Would like to visit some of the beaches there. Which beaches would you recommend that I visit? Thanks for any help that you can give.

Jacksonville beach is pretty good, the beaches down at Ponte Vedra are very nice, and if you want to go a little farther, Crescent Beach, which is just south of St. Augustine, is also very nice. For the access is Ponte Vedra, go A1A south (it will go down to 2 lanes at a point) to Mickler. Turn left and park where the cyclone fence is. Go across the wooden boardwalk, and you're there.

Little Talbot Island. It's a state park. It's on the way to Amelia. To me Little Talbot is a very quiet and very attractive beach. You can take the ferry over from Jax. That's pretty cool (well, if you like ferries). Jax Beach is just a big ole flat beach that's bordered by houses and hotels.

Oh, and there's Katheryn Hanna Abbey State Park which is north of Jax Beach (past Atlantic Beach). It's also quiet, and has trees, and is like the beach was 100 years ago before man came along and tore everything down to build condos.
