Bellagio: Treat you nice?

We are toying with the idea of going to Vegas in May. In the past I have read some pretty disturbing threads concerning The Bellagio Hotel and how they treat their "middle-class" guests.

Here are my questions: Have you stayed there recently and, if so, how were you treated? How do they currently treat people who book internet or other specials? Do they still have an "attitude" or have they cleaned up their act?

I conducted a search but could not find specific information on this topic as it pertains to The Bellagio. I greatly appreciate your help on this!

Honestly, I think all of the "nice" strip hotels treat their non-VIP guests fairly bad. If you are a high-roller, staying in a suite, or otherwise "special", then you get anything you want. I've stayed at MGM, Bellagio, Paris, and Mandalay Bay and not really gotten great service at any of them. That said, Bellagio is probably the best of them in my opinion. It's not TERRIBLE, but just don't expect to feel like people are going out of their way for you.

These are all massive hotels with many hundreds - if not thousands of rooms - and although some of them may charge fairly high rates none of them are really top class hotels. They all have half-trained staffs, paid the most basic salaries, that change constantly. Under those circunstances it is unrealistic to expect any sort of service but the most perfunctory unless you are the sort to go around handng out hundred dollar tips. If a better class of service is really important to you I suggest staying at the Four Seasons.

We've stayed at the Bellagio about a dozen times and only once did we encounter a problem. That event was the result of staff reductions immediately after 9/11 and a really crowded weekend that November.

Other then that one time, the dealers for the most part have been friendly as have the other employees we've encountered.

The criticism may come from those who remember the Bellagio as it was when Steve Wynn ran it. That level of service was superior to what you have now. That's not to say it is bad today, but under prior ownership it was a really top-notch hotel.

I have spent a lot of time in vegas and bellagio is my favorite hotel having stayed at 6 on the strip. But, as one said, you have to realize you are in a hotel with thousands of other people. I have always been taken care of with the few requests I have made. But keep in mind, if you are paying for a midlevel room, you wont be treated like you are renting the penthouse. show me a hotel that does that and I will be there.

I stayed in the Bellagio 3 years ago and felt it was actually superior to any Ritz Carlton that I have ever stayed at....

I was NOT in a high roller room but strictly on a Delta Vacation pkg in a normal room..I got UPGRADED to a room with a view of the dancing waters..and the concierge was able to get me dinner reservations at Le Cirque Restaurant in the hotel..

It was TERRIFIC experience and we will be going back again this coming OCT and WILL stay at the Bellagio again!

Al, see our recent post regarding our stay at Bellagio. The hotel has 3,005 rooms. If you're looking for the kind of "treatment" that you get at a small boutique hotel, don't stay there. Stay at the 4 seasons at Mandalay, a 400 room hotel within a hotel. What is it that you really want, anyway? If it's a great hotel, with amazing service, pick a resort off the strip and live it up.

I think your question has more to do with concern about being treated rudely or with 'attitude' than looking for superior service. With that criteria in mind, our experience at Bellagio last October was great. We asked for and received a free upgrade to a room with a view of the fountains (partial view since we were on a lower floor, but a nice view nonetheless and better than what we purchased), we had a long chat with a very nice and charming concierge who took care of some dinner reservations for us. I had the best pedicure ever in the spa from a very nice gal, sorry don't remember her name. Great (Aqua)to decent (coffee shop)service in the coffee shop. About the only rudeness that I witnessed was from guests in the casino - probably drunk. We are certainly not highrollers and we purchased our Bellagio rooms at a great discount through a travel package.

I have stayed at Bellagio, TI an Mirage several times and have never expeirenced poor treatment. I don't need much other than a nice, clean place to sleep so I haven't asked them for a lot but they were very friendly and accomodating if I did have a request.

Having said that, why are the men that work at the sports books so nasty? Sheesh. Maybe I'll start a new post on that.

One time I had the same experience that Ryan had 3 weeks after 9/11. They were just getting back to normal guest wise but had not brought back all their staff so our room needed better cleaning and they forgot the shampoo, etc. I called and they came right up, took care of it and were very apologetic.

My husband and I stayed at the Bellagio in March of this year. It was our first trip to Vegas. I was totally impressed with the service we received there. We've stayed in 5 stars from NYC to CA. We're middle class, blue collar people who work hard and save for first class traveling.
I didn't know what to expect because of the negative feedback on this site but we had an open mind.
The front desk attendant was warm and chit-chatted with us about how if we needed anything just to call.
Every staff person we came in contact with was wonderful.
It took 10 minutes to have a lint brush brought to our room.
Then I lost my purse on our last night there. It had been about 1 1/2 hours before I knew it was gone. (I was preoccupied eating my gellato) I couldn't remember where I had it last...gellato shop, slot machine, etc. I frantically called downstairs. (it was 1 a.m.) The gentleman I spoke with was so friendly and helpful. They located my purse, brought it to my room along with 2 complimentary buffets.
When we returned home I received a letter stating how sorry "they" were that I was so upset. Enclosed was a certificate for 2 complimentary nights.
I was floored, to say the least.
Now that's 1st class.
