Depends on your priorities, honestly. Wynn is newer and specifically designed to be The Latest and The Most Over-The-Top and The Steve Wynn-est (it is a spectacularly vulgar example of Blatant Self-Promotion that should have Donald Trump dying of jealousy). Service is acceptable there IF they feel you deserve the honor of stepping foot in their resort. Having said that, the place is gorgeous.

Bellagio is Grand and Big and Super-Luxurious and Not The Latest-- for many who just want that New Big Thing in Vegas, Bellagio is so two years ago. Still, it's high-end and the service isn't nearly as Arctic Cold as at the Wynn.

For your first time, I think the Wynn is the way to go, if choosing only between these two places. Why not have The Latest? You can try Bellagio next time when you know Sin City a bit better.

You really can't go wrong with either, they are both located in good central Strip locations. You will frind if you do a search here it is about half and half, some prefer Wynn, some prefer Bellagio. Wynn is newer, however, it was a bit too stuffy for me. I have not stayed in either of the rooms because I'm local, however, I have been to both properties. I prefer the Bellagio.

are you spending the entire trip inside the one hotel? if so then do the wynn. but if you are planning to visit a lot of other hotels like most of us do, then stay at the much better located bellagio.

I agree with earl30.

However, if over-the-top is your first priority, Wynn is the best choice for your.

I have not been to the wynn, but I have seen the bellagio...so, I recommend Bellagio.....maybe look at some guest photos on trip advisor...it may help to seal the deal!

Here's the answer I gave to that question several months ago. Unless something has changed recently, I'd still think my view holds.

I REALLY wanted to like Wynn's. The Bellagio under Steve Wynn's leadership was just an outstanding hotel. To me, Bellagio has clearly slipped and they are attracting a younger, less refined clientele. (Especially since Light opened.)

But, it's pretty clear that Wynn's is an attempt to create the magic he found when he developed Bellagio. Unfortunately, it isn't quite the same.

We stayed recently at Wynn's and I was pretty surprised at having a clearly worn out carpet, fingerprint marks on the bathroom door, dust on some of the fixtures, and walls that were shockingly thin. Clearly, the higher construction costs with Wynn's due to increases in material costs led to them cutting corners. For example, bathrooms that shared ventilation. So, when the person in the room next door was finished with their business, we were quite aware of this.

Now, I think the people who worked there were terrific and the bars and lounges are great. The food at the restaurants was excellant, though the service was a bit lacking. (That could be a sympton elsewhere in Vegas with the growth as we had bad service at other establishments outside Wynn's)

On our next trip, we'd probably opt for Bellagio again. The positives - like location - outweigh the negatives. But, if Bellagio was sold out, I wouldn't be disappointed if we stayed at Wynn's. It's not bad. But, it isn't Bellagio circa 1999 when Mr. Wynn ran it.

I think there have been more recent posts with Wynn vs. Bellagio or something like that in the title.

Having stayed at the Wynn over 6 times now and have stayed at Bellagio, I must comment on Ryan's post that the walls are really thin and the carpet is worn and there is dust on the fixtures...You are so wrong...Where did you stay? Obviously not at the Wynn!
If I heard anyone next door to me especially doing their business in the bathroom, I would be horrified and that just isn't the case..
Being new and nice, I would choose the Wynn but the Bellagio is lovely and you cannot go wrong with the beautiful property..
Have fun and I wish you all the best!

Tahiti, perhaps on your next beach vacation, you might try reading "How to win friends and influence people."

Calling someone a liar, which is effectively what you've done, isn't the way to have someone maintain a sense of decorum.

I stand by what I said. I'll refrain from calling you'd what I'd like to.

I have not stayed at either, so I cannot comment on rooms, but I've played at both and spent a great deal of time at Bellagio. (We have a time share at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, so we don't stay at hotels very often.) My comments are on location, gambling, and food. I think Bellagio is the much better location. More interesting casinos within actual walking distance. At Wynns you'll have a longer hike to the closest other properties, such as the Venetian and Treasure Island. Edge - Bellagio, by a long shot. If you are truly motivated to walk, it might not matter to you. Food - Wynn's has the best high quality buffet in Vegas - not cheap, but the best value. Bellagio's buffet is great, but more expensive and very noisy. Bellagio has a wide range of upscale restaurants, expensive but very good. Wynn does too, although I've not eaten at the restaurants there because the buffet is such a knockout. I'd call it even, except for the buffet. Gambling - the table limits are high at both places. I like the atmosphere at Bellagio better, better background music, quieter because of the fabric and carpets, but the slot machines have gotten really tight there according to my spouse and other family members (I don't do slots). Your Bellagio players club card is good at all the MGM properties. I don't believe Wynn's players club is linked to any other properties. So if you wander around casinos your points won't add up. There are quite a few "full pay" jacks or better video poker machines at Wynns, none at Bellagio (but good full pay video poker machines are at Caesars right across the street). Drink service slightly better at Bellagio. The Wynn's players club will give you a new player a free buffet quicker than Bellagio. If you and your spouse are both playing, ask for two cards on the same account so you can combine your play. Not much edge either way on gambling as far as I can tell, except that there are more casinos closer to Bellagio.

One more criteria - entertainment, both free and otherwise. Bellagio has the fountains and the conservatory, both free and both better than anything at or near Wynns. Bellagio also has "O" - an outstanding Circue du Soliel show. They reserve the best seats for guests of the hotel. Wynn's has La Reve, but their reviews are not as good. Edge - Bellagio.

huh, that's the second time today that I heard somebody saying that they wouldn't say something. The result being that the something got said.

I've only visited the casinos at the Wynn and Bellagio. Wynn was really, really, big, too big, and there were these nicely dressed people wheeling their luggage for miles thru/around the casino. Was sitting there at a bj table watching people wheel back and forth and both the checkin desk and the elevators were over the horizon. Or so it seemed. Bellagio is very nice and I like how it is convenient to Caesars and Paris, etc. Too many hookers prowling the casino (where you walk in from Caesars and bear left -down that main path), obvious pros.

Ryan..
Maybe you should re-read your post from 6/17/2005 about the exact title of the same post of Bellagio or Wynn..
I call it as I see it and you my dear or no match for me!
I respect your opinion but after staying over 6 times and never ever having a problem with the Wynn on issues that you have stated, I must come to their defense.

No need to argue over a hotel....sometimes people who love a hotel get very defensive if they hear anything negative about it.

I once had a poster totally rip into me about my pleasant stay at a hotel in London. I loved that hotel....yet the poster, who was used to paying ALOT more money for hotel rooms was very quick to call the hotel lowclass and hardly fit for usage. Ha! But they never stepped foot in that hotel. Had never even seen it...

so, everything is relative....what is grand for one person, is the gutter for another. And, since hotels in Vegas tend to be huge, there can be some areas of vulnerability in a hotel that may not come to light to the frequent visitor.

The Wynn is awesome.

I've been to the Bellagio and it's nice as well. The Wynn is newer and the service is wonderful. I will always go back and stay at the Wynn.

As for self promotion I never noticed it on anything but the slot machines. Then I finally saw the touches. honestly though it's not enough to dislike it.

I think the Wynn is more intimate if there is such a thing in Vegas.

no self promotion? did you happen to look at the top of the building? didn't it say wynn on it? i think that's the ultimate self promotion being talked about above.
the bellagio wasn't built by steve bellagio. caesars's palace wasn't built by julius caesar, but we can easily tell who built wynn.

I met Steve Wynn on my last visit since I was there for work. I found him to be delightful.

Not only is he very sincere and a pleasure to talk to but his hotel is made up of a great deal of employees that had to play a lottery to be able to go with him to the new hotel.

So what if his name is on top of the building. Get over it people. I don't get why anyone would get so bent out of shape over that.

The rooms are clean. the beds are made up of the best sheets ever. the bathrooms are to die for. I didn't hear a shower even going and the hotel was full every night I was there.

I lost my wallet and security did everything they could to help me find it.

I had to change my flight and needed a car asap. A Bentely was ordered for me.

I could go on and on.

I agree Donald Trump should be jealous. Steve Wynn has managed to create something that should be written about for business to teach others on what to do and how to it successfully!

i am not bent out of shape over this. i was explaining what self promotion means since the meaning seemed to have been lost. putting your own name on the largest and most expensive hotel in the world is self promotion. that's not an opinion or value judgement, just a statement of fact.
