We're planning a trip to Kauai in November and will probably stay at Prince Kuhio condos. But I keep reading about all of the construction and blasting. Is it bad enough that you would recommend staying elsewhere?

I have read about it, too. We are going in August, and staying at the Grand Hyatt, so I won't be changing my plans. I love that hotel too much! But seriously, you'll probably be out exploring during teh day, right? I would think it would be quiet in the evenings.

I know we won't be around much during the day, but I fear being woken up at the crack of dawn, a bunch of noise while I'm sitting outside trying to enjoy breakfast, etc. People on another forum have said to try and stay in East Poipu. I don't have my bearings yet, so not sure where Prince Kuhio is located. I'll ask the rental agency and hope they give me an honest assessment.

jr, Most people think of Poipu of only a small coastline but it stretches quite a distance. Yes in the Lawai district where the Prince Kuhio condos are located right across the beach there will be noise - but work will probably be only between 8 am till 4 pm - when you are out and about seeing the island. I am closer to the Hyatt area and will be at my place in Nov and will not be hearing the noise that far - check with Prince Kuhio and see what time the workers will be working and they usually do not work on weekends. If you have not already booked - check and see if you can get something further away from Prince Kuhio if you just plan on staying at that beach area during the day. Have a wonderful vacation wherever you stay on our beautiful island.
