beauty salons near Pearl Hotel, NYC
is it easy to find a hair salon near our hotel-Pearl Hotel, 233 W.49th? Do they take walk ins or do you need an appointment? Are there things to beware of or should any place be clean? Thanks

I would never just walk in to a salon cold. If you plot the location of the hotel on maps.google.com and then use the "search nearby" clickable link for hair salons, you see what's around with linked reviews.

There probably a few hair salons close to your hotel, just ask at the front desk.
I go to a salon on Broadway near Macy's at 38th St, and can recommend my stylist there.
If you want a top salon in the city, and one of the top stylists, go to Blondi's on Broadway and 104th and ask for the Manager.

I just want to go to one that is clean and near my hotel, to get my hair washed. I want to be able to just arrange it last minute, if I have time. I have found 3 with good reviews, Salvator Macri, Paris Hair, Bar Escentials. Thanks McLaurie, I followed your advice

Is there some reason to go to a salon to get your hair washed? It seems a complete waste of time and money - rather than just doing it yourself in the shower - unless you have a spcial event and want some complicated kind of do. And in that case I wold wnt a reco as to who could do it.
And very few places take walk-ins. Perhpas the cheap chains might.

Really nytraveler- I think that if you don't have a suggestion, it is silly to post just tell someone else what you would do with you hair, or your values regarding hair wash is not particularly useful.
If I ask for a nail salon just for a polish change, do you tell me that I can do my own nails?
Ita- sounds like you came up with a good plan, have a good time.

I was trying to clarify what the OP wanted. Obviously you can get your hair washed anywhere if for some reason you don't want to or can;t do it yourself.
If you are looking for a hairdo for a special occassion - which it turned out this was - you probably do not want to go to a least common denominator chain and probably do need an appointment at a reliable salon.
