Beartooth in one day

Jump to last reply

How long would it take to drive the Beartooth if we wanted to drive it in one day? We are looking at mid June after it (hopefully) opens. We are staying at Roosevelt on the 13th so if it opens on time, we would leave from Roosevelt on the 14th out the NE entrance and then drive Beartooth then check into Canyon that night.

If conditions aren't good on that day, we could leave from Canyon and drive the Beartooth the next day and then we are staying in Canyon that night too. We don't want to stay in Red Lodge or Cooke City in case it doesn't open on time or conditions aren't good, then we would just stay in YNP.

Or is it possible in one day, to leave Lake and drive up the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway and then do the Beartooth returning to Canyon that night?

Thanks!
