Bears in the Teton's in Sept?

Our Family of 3 is making a first time rented RV trip (1 piece -mid sized motor home), from Wisconsin to MT. Rushmore/Badlands, then to Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park in NW Wyoming, and up to Glacier National Park in NW Montana. This will be a 3 week trip starting on Labor Day '13.

Any general info for 1st timers would be appreciated, but we are mostly concerned about bears at that time of year. We want to relax, not be looking over our shoulders for potential danger.

Thanks much for your input.

Follow bear camping rules and you'll be fine. IMO you'll be more likely to see bears in Yellowstone than the Tetons.

Be sure to visit Oxbow Bend in Tetons to see moose! Agree with stars - far more likely to see bear in YNP.

Last time I was doing a hike around Jenny Lake I came across a large Brown Bear. He didn't see or smell me, so he just kept going on his way.

Bisbee,

Maybe he just didn't like the way you looked or smelled. HA

In the Tetons I would be more worried about moose than bears.

I spent six months there, working.

One of my neighbors had his car totaled by a moose he ran into.

The just moose lumbered away.

We saw bears in GTNP in early August.

Bears usually aren't interested in people. Just eating berries.

Make noise so that they hear you and are not surprised. They'll usually get away from you.
