Does anyone know the status of hte beaches in and around Cocoa Beach? I want to plan a weekend getaway to there soon, but I don't want to endure substandard, damaged beaches from the hurricanes. Anyone been there lately?

I have not been there since the storms. But this is not an area that is highly "renourished" so if there is erosion it will be minimal. And often the beaches have sand pushed on top of them instead of away from them. l've not heard anything to suggest there is a problem like this anywhere in Florida, other than already existing beach erosion problems such as in Naples or Melbourne where there is either a short beach or a long drop-off from the mainland to the beach. To reassure yourself, why not call a few hotels. I would think that if you're coming to visit they would tell you the truth -- or incur your wrath! And I'd go for the truth anyday.
