Beach wedding in Galveston
Can someone familiar with Galveston give me some direction on the possiblites of a beach wedding? I am looking for a beach hotel that will provide a ceremony on the beach and delicious but casual wedding dinner reception for 20- 25 people. My budget is $1500-$200 for ceremony and dinner (will not need minister)
Thanks for any ideas!

Tell us more about why you think Galveston is a good wedding destination.
You might do better someplace between Freeport and Port Aransas.
Also tell us what month you are planning for.
One of the worst hurricanes in US history hit Galveston.

We stayed at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston and it was lovely. I don't know if they do beach weddings, but it is right across the street from the beach and it's a nice upscale property. From what I saw, only the Hotel Galvez and the San Luis Resort are worth looking into.

My daughter has always wanted a destination wedding, preferably on a beach. We live in Oklahoma. I started looking at cruises out of Galveston since we can drive to the port but not sure we are will be able to swing that financially so then wondered about just having the wedding on the beach in Galveston and they maybe the bride and groom could go on the cruise for the honeymoon.
I would be interested in any suggestions for a good location in Texas.
After doing a bit of research I am wondering if we could rent a nice large beach house and have the wedding on the beach at the house and have the wedding dinner catered instead of a hotel. We have rented beach houses before (not in Texas) and have enjoyed that.
Would appreciate any suggestions. Want to make my daugthers wedding dreams reality but have a budget!
THANKS!

Where do you live at in Oklahoma? Consider Mount Nebo State Park or Mount Magazine State Park in Arkansas. It would kinda fit your other posts. Mount Magazine does have inside place, if the weather turns on you. Not sure about Mount Nebo. Petit Jean State Park would be another good option. Also check out www.buffaloriver.com he has a lot of nice facilities.

I would suggest going to Rockport or Port Aransas rather than Galveston. Rockport is very quaint and they have B&B's that offer wedding packages. Check out this one, for example:

There are lots of beach houses available too. Check them out at VRBO.com.
I might be missing it, but I'm not seeing what month the wedding will take place.

The Galveston hurricaine that I referred to was the one in 1900 that was at least 3 times as bad as Ike.
Ask if the cruise ship captain can perform the cermony on board his ship.
I still think the Colorado wedding is a better idea.
The honeymoon can wait for a week after they're married.

You don't say when. The gulf coast is hot as blazes because of humidity, and there are thunderstorms and downpours galore. In September and October, you have hurricane season.
I can see if you are not religious why a beach wedding might seem like a good idea but review the weather records for that time for the past several years before you put any money down.
