Beach hotels for families in San Diego

I'm trying to book a trip to San Diego, and we would prefer close access to the beach. We've been reading reviews for a few of the hotels, and all of them have very positive and very negative reviews which is making this very difficult.

We're traveling with 2 kids, ages 2 and 5. We've looked at:
Hilton San Diego
Paradise Point
Catamaran
Bahia
Loews Coronado

Any suggesions from people who have recently been to these?
