B&B's in Fredericksburg

Hello all,

I'm usually the one to give advice about all things Central TX but now I need your help. I have been to F'burg a gazillion times on day trips but I've never stayed overnight there. A friend is coming in from NY and we would like to stay one night at a B&B. We need 2 beds and I would like a place with some local charm.

I appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

This one would be PERFECT for you: http://www.fbglodging.com/properties/49/

Mom and I stayed there last year and it was just perfect! The owner will also do only one night, which is a rarity. Most properties have a 2-night minimum.

Hi P_M,

A couple of years ago, we stayed at Das College Haus
http://www.dascollegehaus.com/site/index.htm

It was a nice stay and the owners cook a kick-ass breakfast! It's about a 5-min walk to the Main Street.

P_M, where do you want to stay? Gruene? Fredericksburg?

Mom and I stayed in Gruene at Gruene Mansion Inn which is located by Gruene Hall and Grist Mill restaurant. Great old house with a carriage house that is a stand alone. It has two beds (one is a murphy bed and sleeps great), your own back porch overlooking the grounds and everything is walking distance. It really is such a charming room! It's called the Carriage House room.

In Fredericksburg there are so many b&bs and we unfortunately didn't stay in one but did stay at Inn on Baron's Creek (?) I believe it's called. Not small but it does have rooms located on the creek with chairs by the water which was nice at the end of the day.

Hi BeachGirl, we checked out the places mentioned above and they all are either booked or have a 2 night minimum on weekends. The Inn on Baron's Creek did look nice and I made that suggestion, but my guest from NY chose the Hampton Inn. I know that sounds pretty generic for something in F'burg but I looked at the web site and it does look nice. Maybe some weekend DH and I will go and check out the B&B's or the Barons.

Thanks again to all who replied.

Hampton is fine. It's right on Haupstrasse, so it can be noisy. But each room does have a balcony so at least you can relax on the patio. It's not a far walk to the main shopping areas. Have a great time!
