In Arlington, there are the Texas Rangers and Six Flags Over Texas. Just across the highway there's the Hurricane Harbor water park. A few miles away in Fort Worth is LaGrave Field and the Fort Worth Cats minor league basebal team. Have fun!

I also recommend Arlington. The ballpark is beautiful. Six Flags over Texas is one of the best amusement parks in the Six Flags chain. There are many hotels and restaurants in the immediate area in addition to a complimentary trolley with many pick-up and drop off locations. The wait can be lengthy sometimes but worth not having to pay to park. While in the area, going to Fort Worth and downtown Dallas (The 6th Floor Museum and the West End) are definitely worth a visit.

Minute Maid Park in Houston is really nice; the stadium has a retractable roof, so you get to see the game rain or shine. It's a fun park - they shoot off fireworks and have a train that runs around the top of the stadium when the 'stros hit a home run.

You might want to add in Kemah - it's a beachfront town near NASA. You can eat on the water - lots of restaurants on the boardwalk and then ride the rides. They're just putting the finishing touches on a big roller coaster there.
