Bar Harbor, Maine

Looking for overnight accommdations for 2 adults for Bar Harbor, Maine early August Friday and Saturday nights.

If B&B prefer room with private bath. Have never been in the area. Good suggestions are welcome.

You really need to provide a budget to get useful recommendations. Also, I wouldn't wait long - the season is short and people tend to make recos far in advance.

We stayed at the Manor House Inn in Bar Harbor and loved it. If I remember right, we had the upper floor of a cottage in back deemed the honeymoon suite. Beautiful facilities, B&B with great breakfast, walking distance to the town and along the water. Oh, and we walked across the way to one of those cool tidal areas where you can walk across the sea at certain low tide times. Be sure to go to Acadia Park when you're there.

My husband and I stayed at the Atlantic Eerie Lodge. Loved it. The view from our balcony was stunning. It faced Bar Harbor. It wasn't too pricey either. Had a shuttle into town, included breakfast. Also had a nice pool. But the view- one of the best I've ever had from a hotel balcony.

Mira Monte Inn. An old Victorian mansion, right smack in the center of town, walking distance to everything, including the park shuttle buses.

You can choose your room on the website. All have private baths. I stayed there last September and enjoyed it a lot. My room faced the gardens and had a small balcony and fireplace.
