Sorry, most of my questions on BH didn't appear? Planning vacation in early October. Wanted to stay at Bar Harbor INN, however they are already booked.
Any other suggestions for accomodations other than B&B. Want great scenery and
walking distance to town and ferrys.
Anyone know about Golden Anchor, Atlantic Oakes, or Acadia INN? Any info would be helpful. Thank you

Atlantic Oakes is excellent. Don't bother paying the extra for a "bay view" as Bar Harbor is fogged in much of the time. In the morning, we couldn't see the shrubs outside the window. We asked the desk clerk if it would "burn off by noon". Got a huge laugh. No rebate on the extra charge either.
I own a condo in Cape May, NJ that I rent out through a web site http://www.vrbo.com. They have rentals all over the states, Bar Harbor also, I'm sure. These are houses and condos that you rent directly from the owner. Their is also a "want ad" section that you can post what you're looking for and the owners can contact you. There are more vacation rental web sites also: http://www.vrr.com http://www.vacation-properties.com. Hope this helps. Joanne
My husband and I spent several days in Bar Harbor around July 4 last year, our first time, and loved it! We will go back to the same hotel because of the view from our balcony. Check out the Atlantic Eyrie - I think we spent $130/night, you can walk downtown. We asked for the top floor (4th), well worth the extra money. We spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony. Have fun!
