Bank of America "Museum on Us" promotion is back
The promotion is different this year. In the past, I believe BoA card holders get 2-for-1 entry at participating museums throughout the month of May.
This year, it is going to be year-round, but only valid the first weekend of each month.
Participating museums in 18 States.

Yes, I had just looked at that. I liked the old method better. This only allows Saturday and Sunday admissions. In the past we've spent much or all of May in NYC and taken advantage of nearly all the free admissions. This year it won't work for us at all as we have shows on both Sat and Sun, the first weekend of June.

The promotion kicks off this weekend, May 3/4.
You can get free admission to particpiating museums in 18 different states by showing your BoA card (debit/ATM/credit).
Just a few examples:
Metropolitan Museum in NYC - $20 savings
Museum of Fine Arts Boston - $17 savings
Philadelphia Museum of Art - $14 savings

Actually with my current status of "half of us" not being able to get up dressed and going before 10, having breakfast and/or lunch, and transportation back and forth, it doesn't leave much real museum time, no.
I have an Alzheimer's patient in tow -- things take a loooooong time, and we can really only concentrate on one major "event" per day.
Last year we were able to do MOMA, The Met (although I'm thinking that was not on the program before?) the New York Aquarium, The Bronx Zoo, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and a couple others I forget all on the deal. With the exception of MOMA and possibly the Met, none of those are possible with just a couple of hours and needing to back for a show by 2.
Still it's a good deal for some, if you can make the right Saturday and Sunday work.

Faina - Sorry, it is cardholder only. Does your friend have any kind of BoA credit Card even if she doesn't have a BoA bank account?
Just a thought, if you have more than 1 BoA card (say, a debit card AND a credit card), perhaps you can let your friend "borrow" one of your cards...

My sister-in-law, my husband, and I went to a museum today and saved a total of $27, courtesy of Bank of America.
I wonder if it'll continue this benefit next year, considering the financial problems of BofA.

I wanted to come back and thank you. I went to The Met Museum of Art this month. I hadn't been there in so long and it's just fantastic. I've never been to the Intrepid so that will be my next visit!

Dohlice - you're very welcome!
April 4-5, 2009 is the last weekend for this promo. The BoA website says 2009 program info coming soon. With all the wall street losses, I wonder if BoA will scale way back this upcoming year.

I just saw this... dang... I could have been using this for the past two years!!
So what if you and your spouse each have a BoA card - you each get free admission? Thinking of using it at the Art Institute this weekend.
