Baggage Claim at LaGuardia

I'm reading horror stories about long waits at LGA baggage claim.
Any recent experience?
Should I just do carry-on?

When I google LGA there are 516 google reviews, many of which mention the rundown condition of the airport and loooong waits for baggage to appear on the carousel.

So you went looking for horror stories and that's what you found? Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Who posts when they have good experiences?

It will depend on which terminal you land at and how many other planes have just landed.

I have not found it to be bad in comparison to JFK.

I'm on United. Terminal C I think.
Not looking for horror stories, looking for good advice.
J62, I'm guessing I have no worries based on your experience.

I've had instances where I had horrible trouble with baggage claim at LGA and instances where I did not. What nytraveler says is entirely correct. It's a situational problem. But JFK is almost always worse. LGA is no worse or better than any big airport with regard to baggage claim. It's just more run-down.

Bollocks. It's far worse than DFW or IAH, for two. Worse than ATL too.

Maybe United's terminal doesn't suck. American's sure does.

Thanks for all your responses.
My plane lands at 8pm on a Tuesday. I get free baggage on this flight so I'm checking two bags.
Hope to make it to Midtown by 9:30 or so for drinks and dinner.
Should not be a problem in "the city that never sleeps".

As a first stepI would check the on-time record of that flight - not just the percentage of flights that are late, but how late they are. Also check for time of year - esp if coming from a place with winter storms possible.

If it lands on time 9:30 is possible - if late - who knows what time?

Positive experience at LGA.
Our luggage was on the belt by the time we got to baggage claim.
I love New York!
