Backpacking Pictured Rocks State Park

Jump to last reply

Hi All! Three friends and I are planning a backpacking trip to Pictured Rocks the last weekend of June for 4 days. We will be driving from downtown Chicago and will focus on the west end of the Lakeshore (Munising onwards). I'd love to hear your advice. Are there are campsites that you recommend? Any activities? I heard there is a cruise that shows you shipwrecks? Do you recommend it? Also, are the bugs killer at this time? The three guys I'm backpacking with have lots of experience, but I am a beginner. Is the terrain mostly flat?
Also, someone recommended that we eat pasties (I have fond memories from my days in the UK). Any famous place there to try one? (It will be our treat after days of roughing it :))
Thank you!
