bachelorette party in Austin
We are throwing a bachelorette party for a friend and traveling to Austin for the weekend in August. I think we will be a large group of girls (10-15) wanting a mix of going out at night and relaxing during the day. We don't want to be too far from downtown as we will likely go out to 4th street one night. We are all in our early 30s to 40s so no need for 6th street college-age spots. Does anyone have a suggestion of a location to rent (house that can fit us all) or a hotel that would accomodate us all without completely breaking the bank? Any other trip suggestions would be great as well. I lived in Austin in college, but obviously that was some time ago and the city has grown greatly in the last 10+ years. Thanks!

Hi I would look at vacation rentals by owner (vrbo.com). You can find some nice rentals homes and some with hot tubs and swimming pools and some cheaper than hotels rooms.
Also check out some of theses hotels: Super 8's,Courtyard Austin North/Parmer Lane,Hotel Saint Cecilia,Hampton Inn Austin - Arboretum Northwest,Hilton Garden Inn Austin North,The Westin Austin at The Domain,Staybridge Suites Austin Arboretum,La Quinta Inn & Suites Austin Cedar Park Lakeline,Comfort Suites North.
Have fun and congrats to the Bride.

We always like to go out to the Oasis for dinner and drinks and to watch the sunset. They usually have live music.

You can get great views on Mt. Bonnell too.
Hula Hut, Shady Grove, and Chuy's are fun too. Maybe go see the bats along the Congress Ave. bridge - that's really popular.
If possible, I'd try to stay someplace with a pool; it's going to be really hot, or maybe go to Barton Springs. The Botanical Gardens are nice if you're looking for something to do during the day.

All of the places suggested by Gatlinburger are well priced, but none are near downtown. I would go with the VRBO and try for a place in SoCo or Travis Heights. There is an all suite Doubletree hotel on 15th Street or the Embassy Suites on Barton Springs Road you might check out. If it were in your budget, I'd say The W would be ideal. Heck, you might try it. You never know!
I second the idea of the Oasis. The food isn't that great, but the views are great and they have music. I like the restaurant next to the Oasis better - Soleil. Same views, better food.
I haven't been to 4th street in awhile but there hear there are good restaurants there. You might try a day and night on South Congress ave, (Get pizza at Homeslice) and happy hour at the Piaggi House is really cool and a great deal at HH.
