AZ= weather in august
Hello,
I am leaving next thursday for AZ (GC, MV, PHX), I was checking the weather online... and there are chances of thunderstorm for GC and MV. and a bit of rain in PHX.
I was hopping to leave PA for heat and dryness...
Was do thunderstorms look like in Arizona. Is it a five minute deal ? or all day ?
When my father came last time to the US we went to Niagara Falls, which we didn't see because of big thunderstorm... it was so rainy we couldn't really see the actual water from the fall.
I hope we won't have the same deal at GC
Please, give me hope !
Celine

Most of the rain comes and goes. I've lived here for over thirty years and we hardly ever have constant rain all day. It's not an odd sight to see it raining across the street from you while you remain dry.

In Phoenix. storms usually come in the afternoon, rarely before 4 PM and often not before dark. Probably come a little earlier in CG, MV. Even with what we consider high humidity in AZ, anyone from PA will find it dry

The storms here are beautiful. Arizonans have a near reverence for rain and the monsoon season because we so need the water. Because this is "big sky" country--few big trees and seemingly endless sky, the storms here are wonderful to watch. Be careful, though, if you're outside when storms come up--the flash flooding and lightning can be deadly.
