Why are you going to Austin? Do you need to stay in downtown? Tell us a little more so we know what to recommend.
A friend just stayed in the Driskill Hotel - downtown -- and enjoyed it.

3) what is your budget?
No reason to recommend the Driskill (or lots of other hotels) if you: 1) are planning to go on a UT football weekend, 2) have a party of 5 or more or 3) have a budget of $150.
