August Honeymoon in Hawaii--ideas please!
My husband I just got married in May. We didn't think we'd be able to go on our honeymoon until the end of the year, but we realized we have 11 days in August available! Factoring in 1 day on either end for travel, we have 9 days in Hawaii. Does anyone have a suggested itinerary? How many islands should we try to visit? Any other tips? We'd like to have beach time, but also be adventerous.
We are also considering Greece and Costa Rica for the honeymoon. Any thoughts on these locations would also be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Avoid Greece like the plague (watch the news). Costa Rica is a lot of driving around, if you want to do the volcano-rainforest-beach rotation.
I recommend the Big Island; it would be a great combination of volcano, snorkel, beach adventure (I love lava tube caves); with all the things to do, you could run out of time with only 11 days! Get a nice private condo for your base of operations(save $$, have space, fewer people poolside, eat where/when you want), a car, a good map, and enjoy (no need to travel island to island, esp. with only 11 days).

Another option would be to split the nine days between Maui and Kauai. Or if you don't want to have the hassle of island hopping, all nine days on Maui would offer a great variety of activities and adventures. Nine days on Kauai would be mello, relaxing, beautiful, and offer lots of outdoor adventures. All the major islands have great beaches and great adventures. Anyway you do the hawaiian islands will be a wonderful honeymoon. There is no way to make a bad itinerary. Thumb through some travel guides to see which parts of Hawaii intrigue you the most.

We recently spent 6 nights on Maui @ the Honua Kai Resort and loved everything about our time there. We loved the beautiful beaches in Maui, especially in Kapalua and Napili Bay. Feast @ Lele luau was really nice and we did a sunset dinner cruise one night. The Road To Hana was also really awesome. ***kim***

Just to add to your confusion, Oahu is my favorite of the islands. There is a lot to do there and you don't need a car in Waikiki, although I recommend renting one for a day (or two) to drive around the island. There is a tremendous amount of beauty on the less busy sides of the island. I would do a mix of Oahu and Maui.
