Hello:
I am thinking of driving to the Edison NJ Transit train station and parking in the garage there . . . Would only be for 2 days. Do any of you Jersey experts know if that's a good idea, safety-wise? Would prefer not to come back to a car that's been broken into/vandalized. Thanks!

I am not familiar with Edison station but know that the Metro Park Stop on the NEC line has 2 large parking garages adjacent.Overnight parking is permitted $ 9.00 per day.
Should be safe.
My sister frequently drives to Woodbridge and parks at the Metro Park overnight without an problem when she doesn't want to drive into the City and park overnight. I think Woodbridge is just a little further north than Edison.
