Atlantis Submarine Ride

Planning our trip to Oahu in June 2004 and wanted to know anyone's feeligs on the Atlantis underwater submarine rides. After looking at their website, there's 2 submarines to choose from and several different packages.

Is it worth the ride? If so, any ideas on which package and/or submarine to choose?

Thanks!

Hi. Last summer my hubby, 14 yr. old and I went on the Atlantis Sub ride in Oahu. Although we were on a true submarine, the scenery from the windows was disappointing to say the least. The fish were not too colorful and we were expecting more fish.

We also went on a catamaran sail with Wild Side Specialty Tours. It was fabulous. We swam with green sea turtles and tried to swim with wild dolphins (the dolphins did not want to stop and play that day). Many of the dolphins swam with the cat and we saw a three day old dolphin with it's mom. It was so cute..about 18 inches long! We paid about $95 per person. Their website is www.sailhawaii.com.

Hope this info helps. Barb

Thanks so much for the input! I had a feeling it was probably a little disappointing. They always make things sound and look so exciting, when they're not! I also have clostophobia (spelling?), so the submarine ride was a little questionable for me anyway. Thanks for the tip, I think that sounds wonderful! By the way, where did you stay? We're going to be staying at Houston Hawaiian Village. Thanks Again!

Mlarson, I heard of someone who went on that submarine trip, and the person nearest them threw up............. and, WELL, they weren't thrilled with their trip! Bit waste of money, they said. Saw very little of interest after spending all that money...........

I went on the Atlantis sub in Aruba--it was ok, I'm not claustrophobic so it didn't bother me. You see some cool fish, but it of course depends on what's there that day. One problem is that there are 2 rows of seats, each facing out one side. If there's something good on one side, the other side really can't see it. I certainly wouldn't do it again, and you can probably find more interesting things to do.
