Atlantic City casinos

I go to AC about every 3-5years. I took Academy bus from the P.A.; man, what a mess. Buy tickets at gate1 below, not above. Price is now $36 both ways. Not bad, considering you get a $25 slot bonus.

When we arrived in AC, we were forced to sit in the bus 15mins for the greeter to hand out the slot bonuses. I already had a Total Rewards card, but those who didnt had to stand on another line to get one.
The slot bonus only works with the TR card. You CANNOT cash out the bonus, or any winnings on it. huh? Even if you win $200 you have to keep playing until you lose it all! Before this nonesense, you got $20 cash/$10 buffet credit. Ifcourse everyone had to carry buckets of quarters.
1 credit = $5. Thus, you get 5 credits on the bonus. So, since you cant run away with the money, just play $1 slots and move on. When you play slots, insert the TR card, and play to get atleast 1 credit. Otherwise, it's a waste to use the card if you play $1 on 0.05c machines.

Now, a warning: these casinos use TR:
Vegas: Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Rio
A.C. & Vegas: Bally's, Caesar's, Harrah's
A.C.: Showboat, WWWest

all other casinos are not in the TR system. So, if you go to those casinos, you get a different card. Also, you have 6 months to add atleast 1 credit, otherwise you lose all your credits. Bogus aint it?! BTW, Bally's has the best system as you could order drinks and check balance on the slot.
Forget going all the way to Tropicana, and Hilton. As for Borgata, Golden Nugget, Harrah's, go there only if you have time. That area is going for a Vegas feel, but you might as well go to Vegas instead of anywhere that pretends to be.

As for that new shopping area... Why would NYers waste time shopping in those stores? Everything that's in that shopping area is available in NYC, Philly, Boston, etc. Thus, the area is a waste of space.
Yes, the run-down homes and businesses and unsavory crowds are gone, but no one
goes to AC to buy a Ralph Raulen shirt.

Interesting. Where DOES on go to buy a Ralph Raulen shirt?

I was just in AC this past weekend for the first time in at least 20 years. The strangest comment I saw in your post was that "unsavory crowds are gone." Really? Along the boardwalk, I would estimate that I was approached no less than 50 times by pandhandlers. It was indeed obnoxious.

Have you considered NJ Transit from 30th S. in Philadelphia? $10 each way. http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servl...nSchedulesFrom
I don't know where THE P.A. is. I was born in Pennsylvania a long ways from Philadelphia.

I assumed the OP was talking about the P.A. man being the guy at Port Authority in NYC selling tickets on the Academy bus to Atlantic City.

No mention of Pennsylvania that I see.

"Interesting. Where DOES on go to buy a Ralph Raulen shirt?"

In the shopping strip malls on Atlantic ave. as you drive into AC.

"that "unsavory crowds are gone." Really? "

yes, but far less than 10,5 years ago. Not to mention what was going in 1992 first time I was there.

so tell us, POMAH, did you have a good time?

not really. less than on previous occassions.

"Have you considered NJ Transit from 30th S. in Philadelphia? $10 each way."

why should I since I live in NYC.

"I don't know where THE P.A. is. I was born in Pennsylvania a long ways from Philadelphia."

I was not talking about PA the state, nor Philly.

Thanks, POMAH. Now all I have to figure out is WHAT IS a Ralph Raulen shirt. My question was meant to be rather facetious as I have never heard of Ralph Raulen.

And a Mucci or a Kulce&Robana purse for $2(no tax BTW). Along with the latest movies for $2 on DVD. And a cheap "massage" from a young Asian girl on the 2nd floor of the Chinese take out.

comedian? No and normally I'm not one to make a big deal about spelling or typo errors, but when you repeated it the second time still telliing where to buy a Ralph Raulen shirt, that really made me laugh. So I'd say YOU'RE the comedian here.

Now your posting of links to Ralph Lauren makes me think you still don't get it. Do you? Or were you actually suggesting originally that those stores in Atlantic City sell fakes. In that case, what was the point of the links to Ralph Lauren? And are we to believe those "upscale" shops in Atlantic City do sell fakes -- like the places on Canal Street?

Since it is apparent that this thread is all about shopping, I'll do some clarifying here. The shops in the strip that POMAH mentions are outlets. There are other true "upscale" shops at Caeser's pier. I have shopped at the Pier shops and found a nice little Michael Kors dress so, yes, some people do go to AC to shop.

As I am confused by what NeoPatrick is saying, I have to ask of him to be more specific as I do not seem to get his jokes at all.

"big deal about spelling or typo errors"

ok, which ones?

"where to buy a Ralph Raulen shirt"

any place that sells them. I dont get it, sorry.

"Now your posting of links to Ralph Lauren makes me think you still don't get it. Do you?"

No, I don't. I posted links as you stated you dont know who that is.

Anyway, this thread has jumped the shark.
... if you dont get what that term means, google it ...

Pomah, are you pulling my leg? I don't know who Ralph Raulen is. I do know who Ralph Lauren is. Do you get it yet?
Or am I confused? Is there really some famous designer by the name of Ralph Raulen??? But the links you posted were to Ralph Lauren, not Ralph Raulen. Which word is spelled wrong? Can't you guess?

"Ralph Lauren, not Ralph Raulen. Which word is spelled wrong?"
