C'mon Sgwen, you're going to have to do better than that. At a minimum, we'd need to know your interests, what time of year you are traveling, how long you are planning to allow for this trip, etc.

If you can share the info longhorn55 mentioned, that would be helpful. Do you plan to drive or use public transportation?

Is that Louisiana or Los Angeles?
The Amtrak Crescent (#19) leaves Atlanta in the morning 8:38ET and arrives in New Orleans about 12 hours later (usually by 8PM CT).
If you wanted to break up that trip, stop in Hattiesburg MS for 24 hours.

To clarify....Atlanta to Los Angeles. I have time but would be limited with funds so I'm thinking 10 days to two weeks. I will be driving. Interested in good restaurants and the major tourist attractions along the way. Thanks for suggestions!

10 days would be 3-4 hours driving a day without detours. I still think you need to provide more details- are you into the outdoors? Are you planning to camp or stay at motels? Which route are you planning on? Depending on the route you take, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Grand Canyon, etc. are all in or (a doable detour from) your route. Far southern route showing up on Google also includes New Orleans. So it's really a matter of what you are interested in. What's the purpose of the trip?

Well, that's only if she goes south from Atlanta - the straight shot is I-20 through Bama, MS, northern Louisiana, DFW area and out into the Texas wastelands before hitting I-10 to lalaland. The northern route is going north somewhere to reach I-40 - depending upon where she does so that could include Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Ok City, Albuquerque, northern Arizona, etc.

I-10 route would include Gulf Coast, Houston, San Antonio, short detour to Carlsbad Caverns (this is after the I-20/I-10 merger), all kinds of stuff in Arizona (haven't been, wanting to go) etc.

So, the first question is: if you want to understand what's worth visiting "along the way," what's "the way" - I-40, I-20 or I-10?

Second question, if your funds are limited, what's your restaurant budget? There are plenty of "good" restos, the question is your price point.
