Asbury Park, NJ area help

I grew up in Middletown, NJ and now live in Maine. Headed south on a road trip to a wedding in NC and want to visit the old stomping grounds with hubby who isn't familiar with the area. Been 42 years since I lived there in my teens. Staying one night, Sunday, Oct. 18. Help on where to stay, what to do needed. Remember family dinners at Mom's Kitchen in Neptune and hope to fit that in, along with a walk on the boardwalk. And, we are both huge Springsteen fans, not that I want to stalk his Rumson home! Thanks in advance and sorry for the short notice.

If you want to stay in Asbury check out the Berkeley Hotel, right on the boardwalk.
There are lots of chain hotels within a few miles.

The boardwalk has a pinball museum which is fun...also do a web search for what is playing at the Stone Pony or events on the boardwalk. If a friend of Springsteens is scheduled then there is a good chance he will show up for it. He frequently attends events.

You many remember Mom's Kitchen as being good, but it really isn't and there are much better options now. For Italian Stella Marina on the boardwalk and Porta one block east. There are many good restaurants near and in Asbury.

You could also try The Tides in Asbury. I also grew up in Monmouth County and have been back often to visit family and friends. If you haven't been in decades, you will find a lot of changes. And as SusieQQ says, there are now many good restaurants, along with new shops and other places of interest, in the Asbury Park area.

Mom's kitchen is still there & hasn't changed much. I grew up in the area & when all the family returns for the holidays we always have a dinner at Mom's for a stroll down memory lane. I think the food is great...not gourmet...but really tasty.

Also, the last time I was in the Berkely Hotel it had an unpleasant odor. I think you might be happier staying at one of the B&Bs in neighboring Ocean Grove...so much prettier and a very short stroll to Asbury Park.

Thanks everyone. I was looking at b&bs in Ocean Grove. Checked the schedule at the Stone Pony, nothing that Sunday. Not looking for gourmet, so Moms may fill my nostalgia void.
