Hi!
I am heading to St. Louis next month. I was wondering what areas are best to stay in. I will only be there 2 1/2 days. Is downtown the only good place to stay?

I assume this is for a pleasure trip- not business.
What kind of things do you enjoy?
If you like baseball, you may want to coordiante it with a home game and stay downtown. The Westin is vry nice. You could do the arch, river front, etc..
Hopefully you will have a car.
Another area I would reccomend is Clayton. It located midtown. It is home to some of St. Louis's best restaurants. It is a ncie place to walk around, go into a gallery, shops etc..
The Ritz- Carlton is here. There is also a fabulous small European boutique type hotel called the Seven Gables - very nice restautenat and bar within.
You could take a short drive - 5 min. to Forest park and see the World famous zoo, art museum, or just have lunch at the new Boat House where you can rent a boat too and go around the lakes in Forest Park.
It is also near The Loop and Central West End which offer unique experienxces of St. Louis.
Let me know if I can be of more assistance.
The Central West End is a great place to find a nice historic place to stay, and be able to walk around to restaraunt, bars, etc. It's also right by Forest Park. Downtown is certainly an option, but unfortunately, there's not always a lot going on after the work day ends (unless there's a Cardinal's game that night). Also, Lafayette Square has wonderful B&Bs and is walking distance from Soulard, a historic french district with fabulous restaraunts, bars, shops and even a farmers market from the 1700s. It's just a mile or so from the Cards stadium, and a nice long walk from the Arch. Have fun! It's really a great city, a hidden jem, I think.
