Are there Outlet Malls near the Mall of America?

I think I remember a post about outlets nearby, but a SEARCH doesn't pull it up here. Anyone have information? Thanks.

By close, do you mean driving in a car close, or "I'm getting on a bus stopping at the Mall and have no way to get anywhere else" close?

I am often in Minneapolis on layovers, and if I have a few hours, that's how I hit the Mall of America. One summer, however, my family and I rented a car and drove around Minneapolis, on a mission to find an outlet. We found the Tanger Outlet Center, in North Branch, MN. Now, it's not really that close, and I don't know if it's the same as it used to be, but it's not really worth the special trip, IMO. There was a ceramic outlet, a bra outlet, Reebok outlet, a toy store...wasn't anything SUPER. I see that they are adding a Gap outlet which MIGHT be worth the trip if you REALLY like the Gap. I've been to much better outlets, however. (www.tangeroutlet.com)

The Mall itself has a great place on the top floor which sells slightly irregular clothes and such, and good sales if you hit it at the right time. You'd probably be quite happy there.

Did this help at all!?

I live in the Saint Paul area, and yes, we do have four outlet malls in the area within one-two hours (I've been to them all.)

1) Prime Outlets, Woodbury (about 10 minutes east of Saint Paul). This mall seems to be struggling, a lot of stores have left recently. There really aren't any stores here that you can't find in #2 or #3 mentioned below.

2) Albertville - this outlet mall opened just a few months ago, and has a trolley you can ride from end to the other. Some stores include The Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo.

3) Medford (an hour south of Minneapolis) - large, pretty nice, but nothing big.

4) Tanger Outlet, North Branch (I think something like an hour north of Minneapolis) - just another outlet mall.
