What is the autotrain? Who will be traveling? How often does it stop? I am familiar with the area between Sanford, Florida and Enterprise, Alabama. There is not much I would care about seeing, except Micanopy, a beautiful small town north of Gainesville.
Amtrak train that runs direct from VA to Sanford, with your car.
Enterprise is a very small town. A lovely one to live in, but not a big tourist attraction. Their 'claim to fame' is the only monument to a bug(Boll Weevil), which is in the center of town. If you DO go though, there is a great Brazilian restaurant called Brassos Brazil. Also, there is a rather historic restaurant downtown that's nice.
The town is known for it's aroma of peanuts, as that is one of the major crops in the area and Sessions Peanut Company is located there.
There is some new buzz about Enterprise...George Jones is building a new home there and rumor has it that several other Country music stars are promoting the area.
Now, at Gainesville, there is a Fred Bear Museum with some nice wild life exhibits (of the stuffed variety). My DH insisted on visiting several years back and I found it interesting as well.
