I've not used priceline for flights but have gotten good rates for cars and hotels. Just wondered if anyone had gotten a great fare this way.

Trip Ideas
I use priceline for cars and hotels, but I don't like the idea of blind airlines bids. I like to know the route I will take and the amount of time I will spend to get there. Some of the normal routes from my city to KOA are pretty weird. In addition, I've rarely seen prices lower than Hawaiian's HawaiianMiles Club since the loss of Aloha's competition.
Depending on your location and luck, your experience may differ.

like bill, i'd use priceline for cars and hotel but not too comfortable with the system for air travel. however, in sept i tried it for travel to hawaii thinking that from california, it will most likely be a nonstop. priceline also allows you to put "non stop" as a parameter on your bid. my bid was accepted at $270+tx when the lowest fare quoted by airlines who fly to hnl was $450+tx. it was a non stop on united airlines, departing LAX in the morning and arriving in HNL around noon. moreover, i signed up with Greatfun ( a priceline-owned travel club ) for their free 1 month trial deal and got a $50 rebate on my priceline purchase. i immediately cancelled my membership as soon as i received the rebate check because it costs $12/month.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Right not what is hanging me up is that I am looking at a circle Hawaii cruise on NCL and I don't believe I can get off the ship and to the airport by 6 AM if that's what flight I land. I'd really like to leave Saturday when the boat docks. Maybe I will try priceline one way for the trip there, which is a more flexible leg.
LMR - I don't think priceline does one ways. But I've been wrong before.
Fm2tm, thanks for the info, that's good to know. The only direct flight from smf is Hawaiian.
