Anyone stayed at Wellington Resort in Newport RI?

Reviews I've found are mixed - just wondered if any fodorites have stayed there and if so, what did you think?
Thanks for any info...

I'd like to hear, too. My husband and I are staying there in November. I read mixed reviews as well. We're staying there as a timeshare exchange. We've been to Newport a few times before but this time it's really just for a week of relaxing!

I have stayed there. I think the rooms vary since they are time shares, so it's not like a hotel where everything is generally the same. Our room was not so great. Yucky carpeting, not too many amenities-- pretty much the bare bones. the "resort" itself is pretty- on the harbour, pool, tennis courts, but i think it's a crap shoot as to what type of room you get. I would say it is 3 star at best.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will call and ask about recent updates to their units.

I just posted a trip report for Newport which included the Wellington. Emcash's description is accurate. Decor is a bit dated and carpets have seen their better days. But we had four suites, all of which were clean and served their purpose for us. It also seemed that our beds were basically brand new. And the location and views are great.
