Anyone flown National Airlines?

I just flew back from Vegas this past weekend. The trip to Vegas went fine though the workers at the counter couldn't get a grasp on the new security procedures. It got to be pretty comical but I would chalk it up the newness of everything. However the that was nothing compared to the flight back on Sunday. Since Vegas is the hub for this airline, all flights were leaving from there and since it was a Sunday and everyone wanted to get home for the work, it was even crazier!! One hour waiting to get INSIDE the terminal and another hour just to get to the counter. They literally took everything out of the check-in baggage in order to inspect it. It was nuts. Obviously understaffed. But I would give them a little slack because everyone is still new at this. Hopefully by the time you fly they will have their act together. The planes are all 767s I believe, very new. No compliants once we got on the plane. FYI though, my flight was only to SF which is pretty short. FYI #2, National is owned by Harrah's Casino.

National Airlines is already operating under Chapter 11 reorganization. The recent downturn in travel can't be helping matters. I would DEFINITELY use a credit card when booking so you have some way of stopping payment if Chapter 11 turns into Chapter 7 liquidation.

Have flown them several times. Service is much better than average. Some flights serve homemade chocolate chip cookies. New planes. I try to suport National when I can as I think they're one of the best airlines out there. Just because they've filed chapter 11 doesn't mean you should stop using them. The service is A+ and obviously you don't get to say that too often about an airline.

I or someone in my family has flown National out of Midway/ Chicago at least 10 times in the last year. It is the ONLY airlines that we have never had any great delays or cancelled flights on. Maybe we have just been lucky, but I can't say enough good things about them. I'm betting on them to pull out of their financial woes because of their positive attitude and in my area, full flights. America West is gone now and ATA has way too many stops on most cross-country flights. I fly them next week and the week after that. Plus I hear from ALL airline passengers in that market area to never, if you can help it, leave Las Vegas on a Sunday. If they exit the field I will be sorry as I have enjoyed their wonderful service and punctuality.
