Anyone been Weston FL?
My brother was trying to be nice and gave my husband & me one of his timeshare weeks. We are going Thanksgiving week. We had dreams of Mexico or somewhere tropical, but what we got is Weston, FL. My brother said it's great but we have different points of view on vacations. I'd have much preferred a place on the beach, but we'll have to make the most of it. Has anyone been there? Any suggestions? Thanks, Lisa

My nephew lives in Weston, FL and I have been there several times. It's not exactly a vacation area, but is more a residential area. It is about a 25 min. drive to the beach in Flort Lauderdale, so you can still have your beach vacation.
We have also driven across Alligator Alley to Naples on the gulph coast. That took us about an hour and a half.
Weston will be fine for you if you have a car. Go to Fort Lauderdale and do all the things you would if you were staying on the beach.
What kind of thinkgs are you looking for?

I lived in Fla for 14 years....Weston is...well, west, and residential, but very nice and well maintained. Definately head east toward Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Much more laid back and a lot going on. Great happy hours and good for people watching. People bring their own blankets and chairs, but my husband and I always rented lounges for the day...$10 I think...lay out...head over to Blondie's across the street....Cheap drinks and sports on evert tv if you're into that....Otherwise, plenty of other spots to choose from, like Beachplace. Aventura is nice too, with the fantastic mall there and great resturants (10 min south of Lauderdale)....Miami/South Beach is another 20 minutes south of there.
Nice to visit and have some lunch, drinks or shop....but you can do that in Ft. Lauderdale too where the parking is easier.

Thanks for the replies. We like to see sights, landmarks and go snorkling etc on vacations. My brother's idea of a vacation is staying in the room watching tv & smoking ciggarettes & having maid service. So our priorities are quite different. But we just bought a house & don't have much vacation money & free is free, so we are going but I'm just not that excited. I guess we'll drive to Ft. Lauderdale some & maybe check out the everglades. I don't know how fun that is.

Good grief, you have a free place to stay in South Florida! Weston is a nice, residential area and you will be in a very safe area. Get into your car and DRIVE! There are lots of "fun" things to do in South Florida.
