Any Suggestions for 30th Anniversary Dinner in Vail, Colorado?

My husband and I have decided on a trip to Vail, Colorado for our 30th wedding anniversary in July. We are staying four nights at the Sonnenalp and two nights at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch.

If anyone has any recommendations on where we should have dinner to celebrate our anniversary, I'd appreciate it.

We've never been to Colorado and we are looking forward to it.

Thanks for your help!

In Vail: Sweet Basil, Larkspur, Terra Bistro for Contemporary American are wonderful. Sapphire is up and coming. Mirabelle's at the base of BC for French is intimate with lovely food. Friends had dinner at Ritz a month ago -food was very good, but the Creme Brulee was "to die for.."

For something different, take the hay/horse ride to Beanos Cabin. Expensive, but the lobster amusee..mmmm.

As long as you're not here during the 4th of July, you can probably make reservations day of and get in. Larkspur and Sweet Basil are also open for lunch and you can usually get in with a slight wait.

I'm printing off your suggestions.

We arrive on July 7th, so we should be okay.

Thanks very much!

All Vail restaurants listed previously are within a 20 walking loop with menus outside. (Except Montauk & Larkspur).

From Sonnenalp (Bavaria Haus?) walk north toward the parking structure, turn right - La Tour - next to Pazzo's (good pizza, funky atmosphere) - keep going towards the Covered Bridge - Just past the bridge is the Vail Mtn Lodge & Spa (VAC) w/ Terra Bistro - backtrack and go over the bridge, walk towards the mountain. Now you're in the heart of Vail Village. Look left - take a photo, snowcapped Gore Range with the clocktower. Look down - sewer covers with the outline of the Gore and altitude! Turn right at first cross street - Pepis is on your right (Pepi Grammshammer - Austrian Olympian, Austrian Fare, where the Fords watch the 4th of July Parade and featured in Kathy Lee's Christmas specials). Continue past the Children's Fountain - Sapphire is around the back side of the fountain toward the river, continue on the main road, Sweet Basils is on your right. Follow to Checkpoint Charlie and turn right - back at the Sonnenalp. TA Da!

Blu's at the base of the stairs on the creek behind the Children's Fountain has a great breakfast and lunch menu. Up the Creek across from Blu's has nice sandwiches. Sonnenalp has a great Sunday Brunch. Highly recommend Larkspur in Gold Peak - follow bike path at the base of the mountain east to Gold Peak (maybe 1/4-1/2 mile from center of town). In Lionshead, take the gondola up, have a picnic, take a hike, watch the sunset, ride a mountain bike down (or the gondola) - go to Montauk's for calamari and a beer on the deck.

Vail's a pedestrian village. Everything is walking distance or on the free bus shuttle. However, after trying all the restaurants, you may need a good walk!!
