I want to go to DC July 4-8 from IND to DCA. I am open to leaving July 5 if it will cut the price but seems to be the same. Hotel is very close to DCA so alternate airports not preferred and seem to be similar pricing anyway. It was $340 for nonstop on US Air and now has become $402 for the same tickets. I know the cost of fuel has gone up and is predicted to go to $5 per gallon. Should I bite the bullet and pay this price??
Any sign of ticket prices going down this summer for DC??

Get on the Airtran email list, they often will have sales from MKE and ORD to DCA sub $200 even during summer

Southwest only flies to Dulles (IAD) If their fare with no bag fee is enough less It would offset the ground transport from IAD to your hotel. southwest.com
Southwest also has nonstop flights into BWI Airport. You can get roundtrip flights from IND to either BWI or IAD for the dates you mention for less than $350.00 right now. Public transportation and shuttles are available from either BWI or IAD into D.C. Also, taxis and/or limos are available. The airport websites for each of those airports will have information on the various ways to get to/from Washington D.C.
If fact, depending on the flight times, with Southwest you could fly into BWI and out of IAD (or vice versa) depending on their flight schedules. You aren't tied into flying in and out of the same airport.
