Any Nantucket advice?

Just returned from 6 days on Nantucket. You do not need a car if you plan to stay around town. The bus does run to certain locations in October. They have a local website that has this detail. Be sure to bring warm clothes as the temperature was about 10 degrees cooler than the nyc area. This past week the crowds were gone and it was lovely!

All I can say is that Nantucket is really beautiful this time of year and to NOT cancel your plans due to the recent horrors. &*#% whoever was cowardly enough to do this to us- don't let them disrupt your vacation plans, too. We all need to try and carry on...

Nantucket is great. I would bring a car, though you may have difficulty getting a reservation to bring it over. There are plenty of lovely places to stay in Nantucket town. But don't forget that the first weekend in Oct. is Columbus Day weekend, so make your reservations as soon as possible. Some wonderful places to eat are: The Boarding House, 21 Federal, Black Eyes Susan's (make sure you are familiar with the reservation policy here, also it is BYOB + great breakfast), India House. If you don't bring a car, you can always rent a bike for the week. Lots of trails and paths. Also, Oct. is the time when the cranberry bogs are in bloom on Nantucket.
