Anthrax on United flight...CHI/SJC???

A plane is grounded in San Jose as I write. What is known is that a middle-eastern man blew an envelope of white powder into the ventalation system. All hospitals in our area are on alert and just waiting....and praying.

True story, but not anthrax (apparently it was confetti), and probably not deliberately dumped in the ventilation system (supposedly it "spilled"):

Did it ever come out as to why confetti was "spilled" into an air vent while flying mid air?
Now, of course, all the nuts are coming out of the woodwork to get attention.

"all the nuts are coming out of the woodwork to get attention"

Really! And if they ever do catch any of them, my guess is we'll discovr they are all just that, nuts, and in no way connected with bin Laden. I cannot understand what makes people like that tick.

The confetti leaked out of a greeting card. My suspicion is that some paranoid person just assumed the "substance" was being put into the ventilation system. The poor holder of the Hallmark card was taken off the plane, strip-searched, hosed down with alcohol and put in one of those suits intended to contain poisonous agents. We'd better prepare for LOTS of this nonsense.

I was going to get a powdered Krispy Kreme this morning and bring it in to work for breakfast but I decided not to.

Yes, Jason, good idea. Do you work in a mailroom?

BTW, I grew up in a town with a tannery. Everyone who worked with the hides was always getting anthrax (the skin kind, not the inhaled kind). The type people get from the powder is very treatable, and the worst they'll probably get is some blisters (assuming they go and get treated).
