Antelope Canyon. Tour form Page or just show up there and pick a guide ?

Family of 4 planning to visit the AC next monday 21st April. How is it driving by ourselves to the parking lot and take a guide there vs having a tour from Page in terms of costs and visiting times ? I see tours from Page last 1 and half hour about $ 35 each (photo tours more expensive)

We 'just showed up' and the next opening wasn't for three more hours. This was at noon, mid week, in August. Perhaps at other times of the year just showing up would work, but not always. (Unless you want to sit in your car in 95 degree sunshine for three hours).

Was there last September and booked in Page for the following day, but was sold out for that afternoon. Lots of cars out there booking on site, but not sure how successful they were. Maybe there's a number you can ring to see before making your decision?

We have just showed up, 4 times, and have always been on the next tour. Under an hour wait. We have always been there in either May or October.

In April you are probably good at either location. At peak season, Upper Antelope Canyon may have long waits or be sold out, but Lower Antelope Canyon is likely to have only a short wait.

The cost should not differ. You pay a fee to enter the tribal park and then a guide fee. There is not a difference in the guide fee whether you book from town or at the entrance. The time of day will change the cost (mid- day is more) and so will a photography pass/tour.
