What about museums? any interest?

There is something Jazzy going on at LC that I must investigate further. There is a string quartet playing on Sunday morning which sounds lovely.

I am not interested in the Matisse exhibit at the Met. The MoMa and Guggenheim look like their exhibits are abstract modern stuff, so lukewarm maybe. I do like the Neau Gallery (sp?) uptown, so I will keep that in mind. But you know...I think I'd rather do something a little more interactive. I really liked the NYPL's map exhibit last year, and the LE Tenement Museum.

I guess I'm just looking for something different, something only in New York. I really wanted an incredible dining experience. I ate at Asiante last year. I wanted to try the tasting menu at 11 Madison Park but that's been discontinued. I'd love recommendations for something not necessarily expensive, but something I can't find in Baltimore, Washington, or even Chicago. (Maybe San Fran!)

It will probably snow that weekend, and I can watch unaware people step off the curb and into 2 feet of water and laugh like a loon, but I was hoping for something a tad more enjoyable.

Regarding "Picnic", my husband and I saw it during the first week of previews, and enjoyed it very much. At the time, I thought that the two young (male) actors were a little weak, but would probably improve during the run. Many of the women were already giving impressive performances.

Have you seen the new-ish Islamic wing (November 2011) at the Metropolitan Museum? Try to plan your visit to include a docent-led tour; it would make your time there a bit more interactive as most docents welcome questions.

Had lunch this week at Del Posto. They do a $39 3 course prix fixe that's really excellent in a gorgeous space. There's a LIVE pianist at lunch time. I've lived here my whole life and dont recall any other restaurants that have had that. Really lovely! If I had it to do over again (and I will!) I'd have one of the pastas as my main course. Had just a taste of the pumpkin cappallacci (small ravioli) and it was diVINE.

You can see the biggest hits on Broadway during the slow months of Jan and Feb as you would be lucky enough to get the tickets. New York is a holiday destination for from early December through the start of the next new year.

Another something different that's only in NY - the MoMath (yes, museum of math) just opened. Very interactive and has some fantastic exhibits if you're even only a bit interested.
