Another "what to wear" question!!

Arriving in Chatham this Friday (24th) for a week - any idea what to expect weather wise? Are the nights getting colder? Here it is still hot and I am still in summer mode but now the long range forecast shows it might be in the 60's on Cape Cod?? Any thoughts., suggestions what to bring?
What is considered appropriate dress for a "fancy" restaurant? Appreciate your feedback.

Bring warm clothes! It was only in the very low 70's today and the nights are chilly. Cold air moved in on Friday. That being said, it is Cape Cod and subject to change! Chatham can be foggy and damp so be prepared for that. It is often cooler than neighboring towns.

As far as the "fancy" restaurant, once again, it is Cape Cod. Even a fancy restaurant is more casual than in a city. Do you like to dress up? If so, bring what you would like to wear. It won't look out of place. My SO always wears a jacket to a nicer restaurant but not a tie unless it is a special celebration.

so would nice capris, a shell and casual jacket/blouse work for dinner in most places? My spouse is just taking "dressy" khakis and golf shirts...will this get him everywhere? thanks.

I think that sounds fine for you and probably for him unless you are planning on dining at the Chatham Bars Inn or the Wequassett Inn. And that being said, I was at the Wequassett recently and saw men wearing khakis and golf shirts. I think the Chatham Bars may require a jacket. If you are planning to dine there I would check in advance.

Weather update....I heard this morning that 80 temps are due back midweek. But do bring sweatshirts or light jackets.

YAY..thanks for the update gomiki. I have a "big" birthday while there - can you suggest a couple of nice restaurants? I've heard the Ocean House is nice - would you recommend it? Thanks.

I think your thoughts on dress for upscale restaurants on the Cape is just perfect. My husband would NEVER consider wearing a blazer while on the Cape....so we'll never be dining at Chatham Bars. The dressiest he would ever get is nice slacks and a starched shirt and that would be for a special occasion.

For your special dinner, I would not recommend Ocean House. I had wanted to go there for many years and we went this June for my birthday. Food was excellent and the view was nice. But it is very loud. We sat in the larger room so perhaps the room right on the water would be quieter....but they wouldn't guarantee a table on the water.

I am eager to try 28 Atlantic at the Wequassett Inn as it gets high reviews from many. My husband would wear a starched shirt there My other favorite upscale spot which is very romantic is The Bramble Inn in Brewster on 6A. Pre Fixe (don't know the amount now but it's not cheap). Just lovely.

Enjoy. And be prepared for all kinds of weather. The long range forecast has it going up to 85 in Boston (so high 70s on the Cape) by the weekend.

I love the Ocean House but have not been there this year. Unlike ccrosner I have only been seated in the narrow area with the ocean view and have loved it. I agree that it could be loud in the main dining room and you would have no view.

I would highly recommend 28 Atlantic at the Wequasett Inn. My friend had a "big" birthday celebration there recently. Excellent food and service. The views are much better than the view at the Ocean House. It looks out over an inlet and out to Pleasant Bay. Much more complex and the sunset view is lovely.

The latest weather forecast tonite is for warm weather till the weekend and then cooler. Please give us a report and let us know if you have more questions.

My favorite technique is to "forget" to bring something warm and "have" to buy a new sweatshirt. For some reason, I have a collection of Tshirts and sweatshirts from D Flax in Provincetown

I especially like this year's sweatshirt. Bright green with a square bottom - not the typical banded sweatshirt bottom. Can't wait for cooler weather. Oh! I guess I could come back up and wear it earlier (than at home)

starrs, sounds good. One of my old faves has a square cut bottom. Come on back...you will need that shirt (sorry canuck for the highjack but maybe you can look for the sweatshirt)
