Annapolis, MD - Is It Worth a Weekend?

I am considering a weekend getaway to Annapolis (driving down from Philadelphia)for late summer and was wondering whether it is a good place to visit. I enjoy historic areas but was wondering whether there was enough to occupy a whole weekend. Any other suggestions for the Eastern shore of Maryland would be great too. Thanks!

Annapolis is a very neat little town. Yes, it is well worth a weekend. Try to take a "cruise" leaving from the waterfront that goe up the Severn River and back, past the Naval Academy, and many gorgeous river-front homes. There are many historic sites to visit, many charming antique shops, and good restaurants.

Definitely worth a weekend. And if you go, you MUST go to Aromi d'Italia for the gelato. It's down at the city dock area. Don't miss it!

Weekend? It's worth a lifetime! After many weekends, we moved here, from Philly, I might add.

Yes! Yes! Yes! It's a midatlantic version of Charleston! Wonderful town with tons of charm.

YES I DO!!! GO DOWN TO WHERE THE CITY DOCK IS LOCATED AND ITS ADJACENT TO WHERE PHILIPS RESTAURANT IS. YOU CANT MISS PHILIPS-NEAR NAVAL ACADEMY/CITY DOCK. LOT OF SHOPS OVER THERE - CANT MISS THE ITALIAN PLACE - GREAT GELATO!

I live here and I do downtown all the time. There is plenty to do. A boat trip is a must even if you just ride around on the water taxi. Just wander the streets downtown, tour some of the historic homes, and visit the Naval Academy- the chapel is beautiful. Visit the Chart House restaurant for a lounge right on the water. to get there go over the Eastport Bridge and make your first left. then follow the road until you see a sign on a building on the left. you will not be disappointed!
