an ideal weekend getaway in So. Cal?
Hi,
my husband & I would like to get away for a weekend of rest & relaxation this fall. My question is, where in southern California (orange county, Los Angeles, San Diego)and specifically, what hotel or B&B would you book? My taste runs to the Four Seasons Hotels, sadly, our budget does not! We'd like to spend in the high $100 - low $200's.
Room decor/comfort/cleanliness is most important. Anybody have any good ideas? Many thanks!!

My vote goes to Laguna Beach. We really enjoyed it. We stayed at the Laguna Brisas Spa Hotel. The rooms are by no means on the level of a Four Seasons, probably more of a Holiday Inn, but they are very nice and clean and ours had a spa for two in the room. I think that Laguna Beach would be perfect for a weekend retreat. You could check around for more a more upscale hotel.

H,
We LOVE the Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point. It is owned by the 4 Sister Inns groups who have a string of luxury "boutique" inns. The BL is perched on the cliff overlooking the harbor with spacious rooms with balconies & fireplaces, large luxurious bathrooms and lovely details/furnishings. Included in the stay is a wonderful wine/appetizer hour, evening dessert, and breakfast. Total relaxation and luxury! This place is so comfy that don't be surprised if you just hang out by the large fireplace with a glass of wine playing board games. BL is written up as a top romantic getaway in many travel books. It is close to the charming village of Laguna Beach and San Juan Capistrano.

Another destination would be Del Mar in San Diego County. Very charming near the beach with quaint shops & restaurants. Highly recommend the L'Auberge Del Mar which is another european style boutique inn. They also have a website.
Both of these evoke luxury and comfort.
