Two years ago we took a 30-day Amtrak trip around the country based on the three segments of the country. This was based on $219.50 from Dallas to Chicago by way of Los Angeles and Portland and $219.50 from Chicago back to Dallas by way of Chicago/Detroit, New Jersey, and Florida. This allowed 3 stops for each fare. 10,000 miles. We were very satisfied.
