Anyone know a site with current Amtrak promotion codes? Goggle didn't turn up anything useful. Thanks.

See if this helps. While the original post was last year, at the bottom, it says it was edited June 28, 2006.

Thanks. There are some useful codes there. Despite that, prices still seem a bit high. No wonder Amtrak is going bust (and I'll probably drive)...
My daughter, grandsons and I took the Autotrain back from Orlando. She called their number and the person helped her a lot. Told her if she put her trip off one day the kids would ride free. Try calling instead of driving yourself crazy going through their website.
I decided to drive, after all. Only a 2 1/2 hour trip.
I still don't get the Amtrak rates. I will be making the same trip in November, and looked on the Amtrak site again, figuring this much time ahead should give the best prices. From Trenton to Baltimore is $48 - not bad... However, the return trip is $74, except for a single train about 10 PM which is $48 (without any discount codes.)
Thanks for the follow-up, BarryK.
When I'm on the east coast visiting family I use Amtrak once or twice a year so I followed your post. I check fares months and months in advance hoping for a deal but have only been able to take advantage of a 10% military discount.

2006? A little outdated, time to get the 2011 codes...

Good tip, but most Amtrak promos can be found directly at Amtrak.com -- just click Deals and then Advertised Specials.
There's also a good list (including those "unadvertised" specials in the Northeast) at: http://www.railserve.com/amtrak_coupons.html
