Amish country near Long Island City NY

On our visit to the US in November would like to do a day trip to see some Amish country/farms, transportation etc.

Is there anywhere within two hours or so of LIC where we will be staying?

Lancaster, Pennsylvania is the famous Amish area close to New York City, also known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country, though it is about a three-hour drive.

No - nothing that close. Lancaster is the closest and that is 3 or 3.5 hours by car - so a really long day trip.

You might find a tour from Philly but would have to take Amtrak from NYC Penn Station to Philly 30th St Station early and pick it up from there.

The Keystone Service trains and the Pennsylvanian have stops in Lancaster. No need to change trains in Philadelphia.

Yes - but the regular Amtrak runs at least once an hour. Only one of the other trains - the 7:25 from Penn Station will get you there (10 am ) in time to see anything and get back to NYC the same day.
