Amazing Race 11-22

My that was beautiful! I would so much like to have been able to do that bike ride.

Weaver quote of the night "Utah is the Mormon State. No wonder God (blanked out)."

Loved the scenery in Utah tonight--although not every team seemed to appreciate it!

What a bummer it wasn't an elimination round!!!

I had to work tonight so I missed it. What part of Utah were they in?

I was ready to strangle all the Weaver's when they kept saying how ugly Utah is and they felt sorry for anyone who is from Utah. How can anyone drive through such magnificant scenery and not be humbled and moved.

I couldn't wait for them to be eliminated-can't believe it was a non-elimination leg.

I am thouroughly disgusted with the Weaver's. Once again they have shown how ignorant they are. I had a sinking feeling it would be a non elimination round. The cameras would show the other teams and how they said they thought the scenery was fantastic. Cut to the Weavers, (talking about the waterfall) looks like a pimple on the mountain. They DO NOT deserve to be in the Amazing Race, much less win it. I asked God before the show for them to be eliminated, but it didn't work. I no longer care what team wins as long as it isn't them.

Beautiful scenery - stupid people (Weavers). I think that sums up last nights episode. We were praying this would be an elimination.

While the scenery is lovely (I live in Arizona) the producers did a very poor job with this season. Aside from the horrible Weavers (and Paoli's) the show is totally b-o-r-i-n-g. Compared to hopping on and off buses, trains and planes in exotic locations driving a van or towing a travel trailer down a road with no traffic on it is pretty dull. I wish they had kept them all in Central America longer or at least made travel in the U.S. more of a challenge - let they ride Greyhound instead of a nice comfortable van

I've been watching repeats of the first couple of AR seasons on the Game Channel and even the second time around they are way better then this season's shows. Let this end soon !!!

Agree that this the worst, worst, worst ever season. Too much driving around where the only suspense is wondering who will get off on the wrong interstate exit! The first few episodes reminded me of an endless high school field trip; the last episodes brought back bad memories of overlong family road trips.

I disagree, to a degree, with those who are so down on the 4 person format. It was an interesting experiment, if less interesting and controversial. However, there is a lacking of intimacy in a four person grouping than there is in a two person grouping, especially when those two share a bed.

I would also like to say that I'd prefer to see the Godlewskis in bikinis more often. Also, as bad as the other Weavers are, the boy seems to be a pretty good kid.

Don't you think that it's unfair to have a yield in a non elimination round? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose??? The Weavers should have been eliminated.

I love watching the places I've been. It was so strange to see Park City without the snow. Man, does it look different.

If people dislike this one so much, I really wish they wouldn't keep posting and just wouldn't watch. I happen to love to see the family dynamics, am not bored at all. Yes, we get you don't like it. Sorry, I'm just sick of negativity overall, I guess.

And beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. I had an Aunt who loved swamps and thought that Sedona was the ugliest place in the world. I could never convince her otherwise.

And seeing all the Weavers' negatives and especially the comments mom or girls have made about the others since the beginning, and considering all that- I still think it is dirty pool to pile 3 against one all the time. And I think the Lenz siblings can be just as nasty- but not in the same provincial way- so its more accepted.

I have a feeling that the Godlewski sisters are going to win. I don't know why. I hate the way the sneering one is always telling her sister Christy to shut up. She always has a frown on her face.

I thought it was particularly interesting, having just driven through Utah last week. I have to admit, mile after mile after mile, parts of I70 weren't all that beautiful. Like JJ5, I love to watch people interact. I think they must be really editing this with the intent of making the Weavers look "intolerant". But I was as disappointed as they were that it was a non-elimination round.

Even more AMAZING is that Christy is a married mother of four. I wonder if she drives her husband and kids crazy.

i think it is very silly to have a yield and non-elimination in the same stretch. what a waste
i also REALLY, REALLY hate the whole non-elimination factor. i e-mailed the show last year suggesting that they drop it. knowing how many episodes are left, it can be pretty easy to predict when there are non-elimination rounds. makes watching the shows sort of a let down when you know it's irrelavent who comes in last. anyone who agree, please e-mail the show and tell them to drop it.

I remember when these AR posts would have 100 responses with a day or two. I suspect a lot of people (like me) have given up on this season.

They seem to be having a large number of non-elimination rounds.

This discusion had more posts when it was over in the Europe board with its greater traffic and (I assume) more people.

rainmonkey,

The left Lake Powell in SUV's pulling travel trailers. This made it interesting because the can not be turned around on a dime when they missed there turns! They went to Monument Valley where two of the 4 had to take a helicopter rider to the top of Elephant Butte to get the next clue! WOW...I would give my right arm to have been on one of those helicopters.

Then they drove to Moab, Utah to find the Gemini Bridge Trail. I have been on the Gemini Bridge Trail...that is a 4 wheel drive road! There is no way they could pull those trailers out there and they didn't show them disconnecting the trailers. They must have left a lot out. Once at Gemini Bridges they had to all propell down a cliff or ride bikes to get next clue. This is a beautiful location...which the Weavers didn't appreciate at all!

From there they went to Green River State park to spend the night. Then to Herber City, Utah to find Bart the Bear and on to Park City, Utah. All but the Weavers took Hwy 40. The Weavers took the scenic windy mountain loop road Hwy 92...must have taken them HOURS!!!! Then to Salt Lake City for the pit stop.

Utahtea, the Weavers obviously have little feel of reading a road map. Sometimes a "short cut" is nothing of the kind. Especially if you are in a national park or forest.

I post more regularly over at Television Without Pity than I do here, but I wanted to share some info with all of you, since it ties in so nicely with travel...

The regulars at Television Without Pity (Twopers) plan a finale party for each season of AR. It's called TARcon (the Amazing Race Convention). For TARcon7, all the racers but maybe Kelly showed up, plus Phil. The partiers watch the finale in a bar/restaurant setting in NYC, and after the official CBS wrap party for the cast and crew, the racers and Phil show up as well.

Alas, I can't go to this one (hoping to make TARcon 9), nor have I ever been to one, but for anyone who's interested, it sounds really fun, and all the Twopers assure anyone who's hesitant that they're a very friendly, welcoming bunch.

TARcon 8 is being held at Planet Hollywood in Times Square on 12/13. You can read all about it and get the details at televisionwithoutpity.com. Click on "pick a forum here" in the upper right hand corner, choose Amazing Race, then the Amazing Race General Gabbery thread, and finally the TARcon 8 thread.

It's kind of last minute to plan a mid-week trip to NYC, but there are likely some of you who live close enough that it could work. It'd be great if someone went and then posted a trip report here!
